Last night in Sandton, in Johannesburg South Africa, Samsung’s much-awaited Galaxy S3 was officially launched at a lavish event in Johannesburg. This sleek and innovative smartphone is a follow-up to the highly-successful Samsung galaxy S2, which sold more than 20 million units in February this year.
The smartphone comes with 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display. An 8MP camera and a 1.9MP front camera which gives users a variety of intelligent camera features and face recognition options. The phone also comes with Android 4.0 Operating system
“With the GALAXY S3, Samsung has maximised the consumer benefits by integrating superior hardware with enhanced smartphone usability,” said Craige Fleischer, Director of Mobile Communications at Samsung South Africa. “Designed to be both effortlessly smart and intuitively simple, the GALAXY S III has been created with our human needs and capabilities in mind – enabling one of the most seamless, natural and human-centric mobile experiences.” South Africa is one of seven countries to go live with Samsung’s Video Hub video-streaming service, he added
“You can rent or buy HD movies from as little as R10. The selection is significant, but not all-encompassing. But as the service evolves and becomes more pervasive, we’ll drive further content on it.”
This product launch is coming at a time when Apple is seeking Samsung Galaxy S3 temporary sales ban in the US, Apple claims that Galaxy S3 infringed at least two of its patents, Samsung has denied allegations, saying that it will proceed with US launch as planned
Samsung is also planning to launch galaxy S3 in China tomorrow, June 9
